Mobile auto glass service for Tampa drivers

Most Tampa windshields don't fail all at once. A pebble comes off a dump truck on I-275, the chip sits there through a few weeks of July heat, and one morning the AC hits the glass and a crack runs across the passenger side. By then the question isn't whether to fix it. It's how fast you can get it done without losing a day.

That's the part we handle. Send a quick quote request or call with your year, make and model. We'll confirm the right glass, tell you whether your car needs a camera calibration afterward, and set a time to come to you. Our shop is downtown on Ashley Drive, but the work happens at your house, your job or wherever the car is sitting.

Glass work we do in Tampa

Windshield replacement

New glass matched to your exact vehicle, set in fresh urethane, with the moldings and clips put back the way they came out. You'll get a safe drive-away time before we leave.

Chip and crack repair

A resin fill for small chips that's usually done in under an hour. Catch a chip early and you can often skip a full replacement.

Door glass and back glass

Broken side window after a break-in? We vacuum the glass out of the door and the seats, put in the new window and make sure it rolls up and down. On back glass we reconnect the defroster.

ADAS camera calibration

If there's a camera behind your mirror for lane keeping or automatic braking, it needs to be recalibrated after a new windshield. We tell you up front whether yours does.

RV, semi and fleet glass

We've replaced windshields on semis and on RVs with big front overhangs. Call with the make and model and we'll check what glass is available.

Window tinting

Florida limits how dark front side windows can be, and we keep your tint inside the legal range.

Why Tampa windshields take a beating

I-275 is the big one. Between the Howard Frankland Bridge and the downtown interchange with I-4, it carries a steady stream of trucks, and whatever falls off them gets kicked up at highway speed. The Selmon and Veterans expressways move fast too, and plenty of chips start on one of those three roads.

Then there's the weather. A car that sits in a sunny lot all afternoon has a hot windshield, and blasting the AC on the drive home puts stress on any chip that's already there. Summer storms throw debris around, and lovebug season in May and September leaves a film that smears every time the wipers run.

Got a fresh chip?
Put clear tape over it until it's repaired. It keeps dirt and water out of the break.
Ease into the AC or defroster when the glass is hot instead of aiming it straight at the chip.
A chip smaller than a quarter that isn't in the driver's line of sight can usually be repaired instead of replaced.

Insurance and Florida's windshield law

If you carry comprehensive coverage, Florida law says your deductible doesn't apply to windshield damage (Florida Statute 627.7288).

Florida is one of only a few states that takes the deductible off windshields. For a lot of Tampa drivers, that means a new windshield with nothing out of pocket. The rule covers the windshield only, so side and back glass usually go through your regular deductible.

You also get to pick who does the work. Your insurance company can suggest a shop, but you don't have to use it. Matt C. found that out when his insurer's network couldn't get to him for ten days, so we moved his claim over and took care of the paperwork.

Since a 2023 change in Florida law, a glass shop can't take over your claim through an assignment of benefits, and shops can't offer cash or gift cards for filing one. You file the claim, we help you do it over the phone, and it stays in your hands.

To speed things up, have your insurance card or app handy, along with the date the damage happened and roughly where. That's usually all it takes to open a glass claim.

How a mobile appointment works in Tampa

01

Tell us about the car

Year, make, model and a photo of the damage. Mention a camera behind the mirror, a rain sensor or a heads-up display if you have one.

02

We confirm the glass

The right windshield for your vehicle, plus whether the camera needs a calibration afterward.

03

Pick a spot and a time

A driveway, office lot or apartment garage works as long as there's room to open the front doors. Some downtown buildings don't allow service work in their garages, so check with management first.

04

Install and drive-away time

Most windshield replacements take about an hour on site. Before we leave, we'll tell you how long to wait before driving, based on the adhesive and that day's temperature.

Where we work in and around Tampa

Anywhere inside the city, from Port Tampa and Ballast Point up through Seminole Heights, Sulphur Springs and the USF area to Tampa Palms and the rest of New Tampa. If you work downtown and live out in Carrollwood or Brandon, we can do the job at whichever place has the better parking spot that day.

Tampa auto glass questions

Should I repair the chip or replace the windshield?

A chip smaller than a quarter, away from the edge and out of the driver's direct line of sight, is usually a good candidate for repair. Long cracks, damage right at the edge of the glass, several chips close together or a break in front of the camera usually mean a new windshield. Send a photo and we'll tell you which one makes sense before you book.

Can you replace a windshield in a downtown parking garage?

Usually, if the garage allows it and there's room to open both front doors. Some buildings downtown and in Channelside restrict service work, so check with management first. If it isn't allowed, we can meet you at home or in another lot.

What if it rains during the appointment?

Tampa's summer storms usually roll in during the afternoon. A windshield needs a dry surface to bond, so when rain is likely we'll book a morning slot, work under a carport or garage, or move the time.

How soon can you get out to me?

It depends on the glass. Windshields for common cars are often available locally and can be done within a day or two. Glass for less common vehicles, big trucks and RVs can take longer to order. We'll give you a realistic date when we quote.

Will my insurance cover a new windshield?

If you have comprehensive coverage, Florida law takes the deductible off windshield damage. Side and back glass go through your regular deductible. Have your policy handy and we'll help you file.

Does my car need a calibration after a new windshield?

If it has a forward-facing camera for lane assist, automatic braking or adaptive cruise, almost always. We check your VIN and tell you before the job starts.

Can I drive right after the windshield goes in?

Not right away. The urethane needs time to set. We'll give you a safe drive-away time based on the adhesive and the temperature, often around an hour.

Do you work on weekends?

Sometimes. We've done Saturday and Sunday jobs when the schedule allows, so ask when you call and we'll tell you what's open.

Do you replace glass on semis and RVs?

Yes. Big windshields usually have to be ordered, so send the make, model and year, plus a photo of any label in the corner of the glass, and we'll check availability.
